Why do most people wait until they are older to get braces even though they have most of their adult teeth in?

by the time they are 12?

Why do most people wait until they are older to get braces even though they have most of their adult teeth in?
Hi, I had braces and i can answer that Question for you. Even though all of your permanent teeth may be in, your jaw is still growing. Everything has to be it%26#039;s completed size before they can begin altering teeth with braces. If they were to put braces on too early then the results would change again as your face finishes growing %26amp; that would not give you the desired results for your smile. It is best to wait. Good Luck. You will love your smile when it is all over. It will be worth it. :)
Reply:It%26#039;s called insurance.
Reply:Maybe they couldn%26#039;t afford it when they were younger and didn%26#039;t have dental insurance. It%26#039;s quite expensive.
Reply:they %26#039;re parents couldn%26#039;t afford and now they have insurance and can afford it and want to do it to make themselves look nicer, just like any one else
Reply:MOST of their adult teeth isn%26#039;t enough. it%26#039;s usually easiest to get braces when your adult teeth are all the way out. that%26#039;s why teenagers usually have braces
Reply:they couldnt afford it, or they just didnt want to have them in high school. ect
Reply:$$$
Reply:Maybe they can not afford the braces at age of 12. They may have to wait until they can pay for the expense of the braces!
Reply:I suppose it all has to do with image and not wanting to be picked on. That%26#039;s why I never got braces when I was younger because I watched all of my friends that had them get picked on. I didn%26#039;t want that for me, so I chose not to get them at that time. Most adults get them, because of image as well. However, adults get them to project a cleaner appearance for a job or a potential mate or even just for self-esteem. It all just varies by the person, I suppose. Hope I helped you out! :)
Reply:The age for getting braces is ENTIRELY individualized. Some need braces quite young to guide teeth into the proper position. Others have to wait until their teeth are more or less all the way in and then they just get some minor rotations and things corrected. It is not proper to do this until age 12-14 for most patients. It all relates to growth patterns, which have a lot more to do with timing of ortho treatment than insurance coverage.
Reply:Some people wait because either their parents didn%26#039;t have the money or they didn%26#039;t have the money for braces until now.
Reply:Well the reason why i didn%26#039;t get braces until now is because i had perfect teeth as a child and after my wisdom teeth grew in and i left them too long they pushed my teeth out of alignment and so i resently had them all removed and got braces to fix them.....
Reply:Several reasons. Maybe their parent(s) or guardian(s) didn%26#039;t have the funds to pay for braces when they were younger or maybe they were scared to get them back then and suddenly mustered up the courage to get them now. Also, they may have just gotten fed up with their teeth and said to themselves, %26quot;Ya know what? I think it%26#039;s time to get these teeth straightened out!%26quot;.
Reply:sometimes their teeth shift again even after wearing retainers exactly as prescribed. my cousin%26#039;s had 3 procedures so far, the last time she was in her mid 20s!!
