At what age should an adult dogs teeth fall out.I have a toy poodle and he just lost a tooth. He is 4 years?

An adult dog should never lose teeth. If your dog%26#039;s losing teeth, he really needs to get to his vet for a dental check-up. Bad teeth and gums can lead to serious health problems - like heart or kidney problems for example.

At what age should an adult dogs teeth fall out.I have a toy poodle and he just lost a tooth. He is 4 years?
Time to have your dogs teeth looked at, he shouldn%26#039;t be losing any of them.

What do you feed him? What sort of oral care to do for him? When was the last time he had a dental at the vet?
Reply:Adult dogs should not have teeth fall out. They should stay put. You need to get your dog to the vet for a dental cleaning and he may need to have more pulled. You could have prevented it by brushing his teeth and regular dental cleanings by the vet.
Reply:The baby teeth fall out within the first year.

Adult teeth should last for life.

He needs treatment to keep his teeth or to stop disease.
Reply:Unfortunately, teeth should last a lifetime....just like us. The loss of teeth may be more related to your dogs diet more than anything. Does your dog eat real dog food? Or does it hold out for tablet scraps? Need to take your baby to the vet, get a dental evaluation.
Reply:4 years old is young for your dog to be loosing teeth. Check his mouth for fowl odor, tarter on his teeth and red gums. He could possibly be a dog prone for periodontal disease. If you notice any of the above have your vet check him.
Reply:He should never lose a tooth...Please take him to the vet to find out why he lost the tooth...Poor dental care can lead to heart problems etc. Germs get into the dog%26#039;s blood stream through sores and openings in the gums. I hope its nothing serious.
Reply:He sounds like he is having premature tooth loss.

Have the vet look at the teeth and if they are starting to get calculus build up then you need to get the teeth cleaned.

The vet will give you suggestions on what needs to be done with the teeth.

Sometimes the gums receed and that is a bad thing.

Toy dogs have really tiny teeth and that is a problem, they aren%26#039;t really strong.
Reply:If he is really small it is common for very small toy breeds to suffer from tooth loss as the mouth of these dogs is too small for the teeth not to run into complications, just like our wisdom teeth. You need to bring him to a vet and start getting his teeth cleaned regularly and maybe dayly brushing. Does he have any rotten teeth, also some small breed dogs retain there puppy teeth longer than normal and they need pulled so its likely it was a retained puppy tooth but the vet would be the one to talk to.

So call a dentist. You posted a question on a website that is viewed by people all over the country. What are you expecting people to do? Recommend a dentist in THEIR city? Look in the phone book.
Reply:call 1-800-dentist

they are good at find you a good dentist
Reply:It would help if you gave SOME idea of what part of the country youlive in.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure what you mean by %26quot;without abuse%26quot;. If you mean an oral surgeon who will not %26quot;strap down%26quot; the patient, you won%26#039;t find one. If it is a sedation surgery, the patient needs to be restrained for their own and the dentist%26#039;s safety. Some people take anesthesia better than others. some people, flail their arms around madly. That is not safe. The dentist can slip and cut the patients mouth when they do this. If you do not want to be restrained you can opt for a local sedation. The patient will be numb, but conscious. It is more painful though.

To find a good oral surgeon in your area call 1-800-DENTIST
Reply:No abuse coming from me, just not sure what you%26#039;re asking. Do you need a dentist in your area? 1-800-DENTIST is a great referral if you live in the US. If you need several teeth removed at one time, you may consider calling an oral surgeon for an appointment. I hope you find someone. Best of luck. Always consult a dentist for the best advice concerning your dental health.

Do adult cats teeth grow back?

No, they%26#039;re not like sharks. Once a tooth is gone it%26#039;s gone. I had to take care of a cat that ate crap cat food and all it%26#039;s teeth were rotting. Had to put her on science diet canned cat food. The teeth she had started to look better and the ones she lost never came back. Once her teeth were healthy again I put her on hard food.

My 10-year-old broke his two adult front teeth. Veneers, bonding or caps... what is the best choice?

He has about half a tooth left on one tooth and about 1/4 tooth left on the other. There is no nerve damage.Three different dentist have recommended three different things.

My 10-year-old broke his two adult front teeth. Veneers, bonding or caps... what is the best choice?
I%26#039;m a dentist.

First off, don%26#039;t be concerned by the fact that you%26#039;ve gotten three different suggestions. Each one probably would work, although some are more appropriate than others.

For a ten year old, crowns and veneers are not a good idea for a number of reasons.

Beyond that, at this point the important thing to address is the health of the teeth. The reality is that you don%26#039;t know that there is no nerve damage. Hence, vitality tests (to determine if the pulps inside the teeth are still alive) should be performed bi-weekly for a couple of months, and radiographs should be taken ever month to check for signs of internal or external resorption of the roots (where the pulp inside the tooth or the bone surrounding the tooth, respectively, begins to attack the tooth as a foreign body. If this happens, root canal therapy is indicated).

In the meantime, for cosmetic purposes, composite restorations (i.e. %26quot;dental bonding%26quot;) will have to do.

Once the long-term health of the tooth has been established as well as possible (we never know for sure what will happen 10 years down the road!), other forms of restorations can be considered--although, for a ten year old, crowns and veneers are not really appropriate because his gumline will change as he gets older, possibly making the crown or veneer unaesthetic.
Reply:Whatever is in your price range.
Reply:Crowns would be the best also if it%26#039;s broken as much as you say it is there is probably going to be a need for Root Canal therapy.
Reply:I have veneers. They have lasted more than six years, and still are OK. A punk busted my tooth with a bottle.
Reply:Crowns are the stronger and more permanent solution. I broke one of my front teeth when I was 8 yrs old. I have had a porcelain crown for the last 28 yrs with no problems or issues.
Reply:veneers, bonding, and caps have their own indications. but since your child is 10 years old, whose teeth development hasn%26#039;t perfect yet, it%26#039;s better to choose bonding or caps with pulpotomy, because i think your child%26#039;s pulp chambers are already open, and the age of 17, change it into crown. bonding has a better aesthetic than caps though. u can%26#039;t use veneers, because the lost of tooth structure is too much. good luck.
Reply:Go with Veneers or crowns or try another dentist. I went to 5 to find the right thing for my teeth.

From what I was told by a dentist bonding only lasts around 5 years and anything that could bleach teeth (whitening tooth pastes, ect.) will turn the bond yellow.

Have any of you ever pulled your own teeth (adult)?

Oh God, no. And don%26#039;t you do it either. If you need dental work and can%26#039;t afford it, try a dental college in your area. They are much much less money than a private dentist, or check into social services for other assistance.

I'm looking for a statistic. How many adult Americans brush their teeth at least once daily?

Or how many adult Americans have tooth decay?

I%26#039;m looking for a statistic. How many adult Americans brush their teeth at least once daily?
Well, I know that the average time daily is 15 sec.

CHICAGO, May 11, 2004—Men will have to brush up on caring for their teeth and gums to equal the oral hygiene efforts of women, according to survey findings from the American Dental Association (ADA).

In the ADA%26#039;s 2003 Public Opinion Survey: Oral Health of the U.S. Population, women say they take better care of their teeth than men. According to the survey, women were more likely than men to brush their teeth after every meal (28.7 percent to 20.5 percent) or twice a day (56.8 percent to 49 percent). The survey also revealed women were more likely to have a dentist than men (89.2 percent to 74.6%).

Overall, American adults recorded a slight increase among those brushing twice a day or after each meal to 78 percent in 2003 compared with 1997%26#039;s 75.4 percent. But the most dramatic jump in brushing frequency occurred in the number of respondents saying they brushed after every meal, reaching 24.8 percent in 2003 compared with 11.5 percent in the 1997 survey.

The daily use of dental floss or an interdental cleaner rose slightly to 50.5 percent in 2003 compared with 1997%26#039;s 48.2 percent.

%26quot;Being thorough in your daily oral hygiene lays the groundwork for a healthy smile,%26quot; explains Dr. Kimberly Harms, ADA consumer advisor. %26quot;A daily routine of brushing and flossing, in addition to regular dental checkups, can be enough in most cases to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.%26quot;

At what age do puppies lose there baby teeth and their adult hair starts to come through?

I have a 4 month old Golden Retriver does anyone know at what age she will start to lose her baby teeth and at what age her adult hair will start to come through.

At what age do puppies lose there baby teeth and their adult hair starts to come through?
The teeth will begin to fall out soon. The adult canine teeth erupt at 5 1/2 months, you can almost set you watch to it, haha. Look for her adult hair to start coming through closer to a year.

Good luck
Reply:full adult teeth by 6 months and coat by 12 months usually

Reply:From about 4 months, mine has just started to lose hers. From what I%26#039;ve seen with my dog the front teeth fall out 1st then they work there way back.
Reply:well i have a 4 month pitbull and so far i have 2 of his baby teeth and he still has puppy hair so i would thin 6 months and all will be new teeth
Reply:all my dogs have lost their teeth any time between 4 months - 9 months
Reply:As far as her teeth they will start to fall out very soon. Her coat is another matter. Usually with Goldens it will take some time to see their full and beautiful coat. It may take up to 2 years old before you see the wonderful coat she will have. Goldens mature very slowly so just keep her on really good food and good vet care and her Adult coat will be there at about age 2.

Enjoy your Golden pup they are the very best!

A grown up adult can have a set of maximum 32 teeth?

I would like to know, what is the minimun number of teeth that an adult can have?

A grown up adult can have a set of maximum 32 teeth?
Most people have 28 teeth + 4 wisdom teeth that grow in late or dont grow in at all or grow in wedged next to the teeth already there and need to be extracted. So most people will only have 28 teeth.

There are rare cases where people have extra teeth, called supernumerary teeth, or might even be missing a few teeth.

Reply:I do not knoe
Reply:I don%26#039;t officially know, but I am 30 and only have 28. I have never had any wisdom teeth.

Reply:HI YVONNE,

SOME PATIENTS ARE BORN W/O WISDOM TEETH. YET SOME ARE BORN W/O CANINES OR LATERAL INCISORS. THEN, THERE ARE THOSE WHO DON%26#039;T HAVE THEIR PERMANENT BICUSPIDS.

SO YOU SEE THERE ARE MANY VERY INDIVIDUAL OUTCOMES. THERE IS EVEN A VERY RARE CONDITION WHERE PEOPLE NEVER DEVELOP ANY OF THE COMMON ADULT TEETH.

AT A MINIMUM A PATIENT SHOULD HAVE MOLARS TO CHEW WITH AND INCISORS TO BITE INTO FOODS.
Reply:I think it varies from person to person, for example I had 32 but my wisdoms came out and my boyfriend has 30 and I%26#039;m pretty sure hes had his wisdoms pulled so. .it varies
Reply:yes, an adult can have 32 teeth - or - 28 depending on the appearance of wisdom teeth..

some adults may have fewer due to genetic factors.. permanent teeth do not form and primary teeth are retained

also, some people have extra teeth called %26quot;supernumerary%26quot;

Why do most people wait until they are older to get braces even though they have most of their adult teeth in?

by the time they are 12?

Why do most people wait until they are older to get braces even though they have most of their adult teeth in?
Hi, I had braces and i can answer that Question for you. Even though all of your permanent teeth may be in, your jaw is still growing. Everything has to be it%26#039;s completed size before they can begin altering teeth with braces. If they were to put braces on too early then the results would change again as your face finishes growing %26amp; that would not give you the desired results for your smile. It is best to wait. Good Luck. You will love your smile when it is all over. It will be worth it. :)
Reply:It%26#039;s called insurance.
Reply:Maybe they couldn%26#039;t afford it when they were younger and didn%26#039;t have dental insurance. It%26#039;s quite expensive.
Reply:they %26#039;re parents couldn%26#039;t afford and now they have insurance and can afford it and want to do it to make themselves look nicer, just like any one else
Reply:MOST of their adult teeth isn%26#039;t enough. it%26#039;s usually easiest to get braces when your adult teeth are all the way out. that%26#039;s why teenagers usually have braces
Reply:they couldnt afford it, or they just didnt want to have them in high school. ect
Reply:$$$
Reply:Maybe they can not afford the braces at age of 12. They may have to wait until they can pay for the expense of the braces!
Reply:I suppose it all has to do with image and not wanting to be picked on. That%26#039;s why I never got braces when I was younger because I watched all of my friends that had them get picked on. I didn%26#039;t want that for me, so I chose not to get them at that time. Most adults get them, because of image as well. However, adults get them to project a cleaner appearance for a job or a potential mate or even just for self-esteem. It all just varies by the person, I suppose. Hope I helped you out! :)
Reply:The age for getting braces is ENTIRELY individualized. Some need braces quite young to guide teeth into the proper position. Others have to wait until their teeth are more or less all the way in and then they just get some minor rotations and things corrected. It is not proper to do this until age 12-14 for most patients. It all relates to growth patterns, which have a lot more to do with timing of ortho treatment than insurance coverage.
Reply:Some people wait because either their parents didn%26#039;t have the money or they didn%26#039;t have the money for braces until now.
Reply:Well the reason why i didn%26#039;t get braces until now is because i had perfect teeth as a child and after my wisdom teeth grew in and i left them too long they pushed my teeth out of alignment and so i resently had them all removed and got braces to fix them.....
Reply:Several reasons. Maybe their parent(s) or guardian(s) didn%26#039;t have the funds to pay for braces when they were younger or maybe they were scared to get them back then and suddenly mustered up the courage to get them now. Also, they may have just gotten fed up with their teeth and said to themselves, %26quot;Ya know what? I think it%26#039;s time to get these teeth straightened out!%26quot;.
Reply:sometimes their teeth shift again even after wearing retainers exactly as prescribed. my cousin%26#039;s had 3 procedures so far, the last time she was in her mid 20s!!

Please help i don%26#039;t know whether i need braces and most of my adult teeth are cruked and i have a big overbite
Braces would take care of those things, depending on your unique situation your treatment may or may not call for surgery or pulling a tooth or 2. If your problem goes beyond cosmetic and to find out if you actually %26#039;need%26#039; or would greatly benefit from orthodontic treatment you should talk to an orthodontist. Almost all orthodontists offer free consultation. They could tell you what your treatment would involve, some options, and how long it would take.
Reply:You really need it, big time!!!!

Believe me it will make a difference!!!
Reply:Go to your dentist or orthodontist. They will be able to advise you on what they can do to help.
Reply:OK well I can;t tell you weather or not you need braces as I have not seen your teeth, but if you think it%26#039;s something that%26#039;s worth getting looked at then i would make an appointment with an orthodontist for a consultation.MOST consultations are free. During the consultation they will first see if you need any treatment at all. If they think you need treatment they will determine what kind of treatment, the length of treatment and the cost of treatment.

Hope I helped!

Reply:%26gt;About 1 month before it injures (or worse) a human child.%26lt;
Reply:He should start anytime. He will also go through a second teething atage between 5-7 months. I would suggest stocking up on bully sticks (they are the SAFEST chew available, and even crate safe!) to save your furniture and shoes, etc. Pitties teeth especially hard, so offering him plenty of chewing alternatives is a MUST. Another good idea is to take a Kong and fill it with canned puppy food and stick it in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes. this will soothe his gums along with pacifying his urge to chew. teething is just as painful in puppies as it is in babies, so don%26#039;t scold him too hard if he gets ahold of something that isn%26#039;t on his list of things to chew. Congrats and good luck! PS- don%26#039;t be suprised if you find a puppy tooth or two around the house. I still have one of my boy%26#039;s baby teeth and he is 4 years old! :)
Reply:between 4 and 8 months - don%26#039;t forget to feed lots of raw meaty bones during this period to help prevent periodontal disease. The meat flosses between the teeth and massages sore gums while the edible bones scrape plaque and tartar of those new teeth.

Realistically, how often should an adult get their teeth cleaned by a dentist?

My husband thinks I%26#039;m buying into %26quot;marketing%26quot; by insisting that the appropriate amount of cleanings per year is two--every six months. What is the right amount of times per year for a healthy adult with healthy teeth?

Realistically, how often should an adult get their teeth cleaned by a dentist?
i%26#039;m a dentist.

It%26#039;s twice a year. There are strict guidelines that are recommended based on periodontal diagnosis (gum and bone, hygiene, etc)of your mouth.

If you have periodontal disease or gum disease, more frequent recall appts are required. We have patients on 3 to 4 month reall/recare appts who have been able to keep their teeth.

It is also based on caries(decay) history. The greatest prediction of future cavities is past history. People who have poor hygiene or have active decay need to be seen more frequently.

Problems with health can also increase the amount of time you spend at the dentist. For example, if you are a patient undergoing any radiation or chemotherapy, you should be seen by the dentist to clear any dental infection. Any immunocompromised patient should also be seen more frequently.

The greatest thing about dentistry as compared to the medical field is that dentist and patients are geared towards PREVENTION. We can diagnose decay at the %26quot;incipient%26quot; stages (basically before it breaks through the enamel). We can remove this decay painlessly and efficiently. When the decay is broken through the enamel, the lesion is already moderate to severe and may need numbing, a large filling, a crown , or root canal treatment or worse extraction.

If we do our job well, and the patient follows our instructions, we are actually decreasing our profit. It is cheaper for the patient to have great hygiene at home and have 2 dental cleanings and exams than wait for something to happen.

Go ahead and wait for your cavities to get bigger. Avoid the dentist for as long as you can. Get one cleaning a year. Do the minimal. I guarantee you that you will spend more money in the long run. Instead of being a simple cleaning (prophylaxis), the next time the dentist/hygienist will have to charge you a debridement and prophylaxis because there is just too much calculus.

Go ahead and wait for the cavities to get bigger, most cavities are based on size and location. A simple filling is usually one surface. Go ahead and make it bigger. I%26#039;ll charge you twice the amount. The more you wait, the more expensive it gets.

It%26#039;s ironic that we give you the tools to make it cheaper for you and less profitable for us. You get a free toothbrush and floss and toothpaste. We%26#039;ll give you a prescription for flouride. We%26#039;ll remove the contaminants that make you susceptible to gum disease.

Don%26#039;t believe that you can remove calculus/tartar on your own. It is a natural byproduct of calcium deposits from your saliva. Hygienist go to school for two to four years to learn how to diagnose and remove calculus. The word we learned in school to describe calculus is %26quot;tenacious.%26quot; No amount of toothbrushing and flossing can remove calculus.

But go ahead and get the one year cleaning. Your dental insurance comes out of your pay no matter if you use it or not, even if your boss is paying for it. The insurance company loves patients like you.

I always tell patients that you have to love your body more than your car. Most patients get their car oil changed every 3000 miles. What would you say if I said I changed my oil every 10 thousand miles. You would say that would be ruining your car. Most cars last 5-10-maybe 15 years. Your teeth should last you your whole adult life-50+ years.

Nothing is better than your original healthy tooth. Why woud you spend less money and have less maintenance on your teeth that you use all day than you would your car? You can replace a car but any replacement of teeth will be some sort of compromise. Make a small Investment in the health of your body, teeth and gums. Everybody misses their teeth once they%26#039;re gone.
Reply:go 2 times a year
Reply:I used to have my teeth cleaned once a year, but then my dentist said I should go twice a year, because I drink a lot of coffee. If you smoke you should also try to go twice a year. Not every ones teeth are the same!
Reply:I used to have my teeth cleaned every six months, but the last time I went in my dentist told me it wasn%26#039;t necessary and could fix a filling in my appointment time instead. I do take very good care of my teeth, brush twice a day, floss and rinse once. Now I only go every year, even though my insurance would pay for a second one.
Reply:It really depends on your mouth. Most people cannot go a full year without building up tartar/calculus or without forming a cavity. So, 2 times a year is the norm for this reason. A cavity can form within 6 months so 2 times a year helps catch it while it is small and can still be filled. Also, most people form calculus/tartar within 3-4 months after a teeth cleaning so it needs to be cleaned off. Some people with gum disease need to have this cleaned off at that 3-4 months mark to prevent further bone loss so they do not lose their teeth. For most people that do not have significant gum disease, twice a year helps prevent the calculus/tartar from causing bone loss/ starting gum disease. For a few people that do not tend to make a lot of tartar/calculus buildup or get cavities, once a year is ok.

I have a Siberian Husky puppy. At what age will she begin to loose her puppy teeth and grow adult teeth?

Her name is Mitsy and she was born on October 25.

I have a Siberian Husky puppy. At what age will she begin to loose her puppy teeth and grow adult teeth?
Puppies begin to lose their baby teeth at about 4 1/2 months of age, just before the permanent teeth begin to appear. By 6-7 months of age, all the permanent teeth have erupted. This is not always 100% accurate, but give or take a month, and it should give you a good idea.
Reply:Granted, I have a different breed of dog, but I think it is the same... He lost his around Month 6 or so. So it sounds like it should be happening soon. We started noticing little white things around the house, and realized they were his teeth. Some dogs swallow them though. Hope this helps.
Reply:check these sites out about husky pups also you vet should be able to answer that question for you

Will my 5 month old chihuahua stop shredding things after she gets her adult teeth in?

Possibly, but you might want to consider taking the puppy to some puppy training. PetSmart has a great program and I believe PetCo has a training program as well. I took my puppy (who is 5 years old now) to the PetSmart puppy training and it helped a lot.

Will my 5 month old chihuahua stop shredding things after she gets her adult teeth in?
i hope so and good luck
Reply:alittle after 1 year of age he should calm down.
Reply:I have chihuahuas and only one at 6 years of age still shreds paper try to redirect with a dog bone or toy everytime
Reply:well she probably wont chew as much as she does now...but all dogs like to chew on things..its how they clean their teeth!

try a good kong toy..one with grooves or holes. put some peanut butter in it! it will keep her busy. and make sure you keep things off the floor you don%26#039;t want her to have. and get electrical cord covers for any exposed wires..(they WILL chew on them, and can electrocute themselves). get the thick heavy duty ones, you can find them at any office supply store.
Reply:She needs to chew. Give her stuffed Kongs and bones not made of rawhide - bully sticks, pig ears.
Reply:Not if this becomes a habit. You want to give her things to chew that are approporiate and praise her to no end when she chews her toys and other things that you give her. Firmly tell her %26quot;no%26quot; when she chews things that she%26#039;s not suppose to. If she%26#039;s left alone for long periods, you want to make sure that she has toys and things to occupy her. I gave my Chi pup the fat ends of carrots to chew when she was teething. You can refrigerate them and make them cold so they%26#039;re soothing for her gums. Put in the time to gently train her correctly while she%26#039;s young and you won%26#039;t be disappointed.

You don%26#039;t mention how big your gap is, but unless it really bothers you, I wouldn%26#039;t fix it. Did you know there are many celebrities who are gap-toothed? Below is a link you can check out that might make you feel better about it.

I chose to get braces to fix mine because if you do dental bonding it has to be redone every few years.
Reply:well actually braces are probably the best option for you. you are in the same situation i was in all my teeth were straight just my teeth were all spaced out. and i got braces and my teeth were gaped free in like 2 months

How long does it take for a dog to get it's adult teeth?

He is a half collie half blue heeler about 35 lbs and 1 year old. Has it already happened?

How long does it take for a dog to get it%26#039;s adult teeth?
You will often miss teething in puppies. The teeth are either swallowed or lost outside. The process usually is complete by the end of the 8th month. It can start as early as 6 months, but the average is about 7 months of age.

Your puppy should already have all of his adult teeth. Be sure to brush them and feed dry food. Dental disease is one of the leading causes of medical complications in pets today.
Reply:with mine it took about a year (12 months) but for ur dog it could take more
Reply:It has probably happened already. Most dogs will have their adult teeth in around 7 to 8 months of age.
Reply:Pups usually lose their teeth at about 4-6 months. If your dog still has deciduous teeth at 1 year old they probably will not fall out on their own and may need to be extracted by your vet.

When do puppies stop the biting stage? When do they have all their adult teeth?

Around 7 months they should have all their adult teeth. If you have done your job, they%26#039;ll also quit chewing on you and other inappropriate items by this time as well. If not, can be a lifelong behavior.

When do puppies stop the biting stage? When do they have all their adult teeth?
It varies from dog to dog, but usually they have all their teeth by age 1. Give your dog rawhides, pigs ears, dentabones, real bones, etc. No letting him or her chew your fingers. While it%26#039;s cute, it teaches dogs that it%26#039;s okay for them to do that, and it eventually becomes biting. Give her all those things I mentioned as well as toys all her life.
Reply:The chewing stage starts picking up at around 4 months old and sometimes can chew until age 2 in extreme cases. Their adult teeth are usually fully in and grown between 6-8 months.
Reply:Some don%26#039;t grow out of it if you don%26#039;t discipline them not to. I have mini dashie and when he was little he was a biter. We would act as if the littlest bit was painful. We would always cry out OUCH rather loudly and then ignore him for a few minutes. Dogs want to please their owners. They don%26#039;t want to hurt them, but as puppies they don%26#039;t always know how to play with humans. In the dog community play biting is generally accepted.

I have done this with all my dogs and I have never had a biting problem (even when removing a favorite toy from their mouth%26#039;s) This technique should fix the problem in a week or two. Good luck
Reply:Each dog is different... but they all generally follow the same stages...

Biting starts at about stage 5

Stage 5: The Juvenile Stage 3 Months to 4 Months

The Juvenile stage typically lasts from 3 to 4 months of age, and

it’s during this time your puppy is most like a toddler. He’ll be

a little more independent - he might start ignoring the commands

he’s only recently learned – just like a child does when they’re

trying to exert their new-found independence. As in “I don’t have

to listen to you!” Firm and gentle reinforcement of commands and

training is what’s required here. He might start biting you –

play biting or even a real attempt to challenge your authority. A

sharp “No!” or “No bite!” command, followed by several minutes of

ignoring him, should take care of this problem. Continue to play

with him and handle him on a daily basis, but don’t play games

like tug of war or wrestling with him. He may perceive tug of war

as a game of dominance – especially if he wins. And wrestling is

another game that can rapidly get out of hand. As your puppy’s

strength grows, he’s going to want to play-fight to see who’s

stronger – even if you win, the message your puppy receives is

that it’s ok to fight with you. And that’s not ok!

Stage 6: The Brat Stage 4-6 Months

The Brat Stage starts at about 4 months and runs until about 6

months, and it’s during this time your puppy will demonstrate

even more independence and willfulness. You may see a decline in

his urge to please you – expect to see more “testing the limits”

type of behaviors. He’ll be going through a teething cycle during

this time, and will also be looking for things to chew on to

relieve the pain and pressure. Frozen doggie bones can help sooth

him during this period.

He may try to assert his new “dominance” over other family

members, especially children. Continue his training in obedience

and basic commands, but make sure to never let him off his leash

during this time unless you’re in a confined area. Many times

pups at this age will ignore commands to return or come to their

owners, which can be a dangerous, even fatal, breakdown in your

dog’s response to you. If you turn him loose in a public place,

and he bolts, the chances of injury or even death can result – so

don’t take the chance.

He’ll now begin to go through the hormonal changes brought about

by his growing sexual maturity, and you may see signs of

rebelliousness. (Think adolescent teen-age boy!) If you haven’t

already, you should have him neutered during this time. (Or

spayed if you have a female.)

Stage 7: The Young Adult Stage 6-18 Months

The Young Adulthood stage lasts from 6 months to about 18 months,

and is usually a great time in your dog’s life - he’s young, he’s

exuberant, he’s full of beans – and yet he’s learning all the

things he needs to become a full-fledged adult dog.

Be realistic in your expectations of your dog at this time – just

because he’s approaching his full growth and may look like an

adult, he’s not as seasoned and experienced as you might expect.

Gradually increase the scope of activities for your dog, as well

as the training. You can start more advanced training during this

period, such as herding or agility training, if that’s something

both of you are interested in. Otherwise, extend his activities

to include more people and other animals – allow him to interact

with non-threatening or non-aggressive dogs.

Congratulations! You’ve raised your puppy through the 7 stages of

childhood, er, I mean puppyhood, and now you have a grown-up,

adult dog! Almost feels like you’ve raised a kid, doesn’t it?
Reply:Most pups will have all their adult teeth by the time they%26#039;re between 6 and 7 months old. The last ones to come in are the upper canines (fangs).

Although the chewing frenzy will slow down once the teething stage is over, most pups%26#039; chew for quite some time afterwards. Some dogs never totally outgrow it, and that varies from breed to breed, and from one individual dog to another.

You can read about taking care of your puppys%26#039; teeth at this url http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-d... and find out how to deal with that endless chewing here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/puppy...

How old are puppies usually when they start loosing their puppy teeth and start getting their adult teeth?

I know it usually varies, but what%26#039;s the range?

How old are puppies usually when they start loosing their puppy teeth and start getting their adult teeth?
About 4- 4 1/2 months puppies begin to lose the front tiny teeth on the top and bottom. About 5-6 months the canine (fangs) teeth start to fall out. After that the molars start to push in and that%26#039;s when the dog needs lots of good teething equipment.

This is a hard time for puppies and harder on their owners. Puppies will chew on anything including our hand, ankles or our good furniture. This is not being hateful, it is just trying to help the new teeth come in.

Hang in there , the second teeth are usually all in by the time they are 9 months.
Reply:My cockers were about 5 or 6 months old.
Reply:Dogs are born with no teeth at all, but grow them in the first two or three weeks after birth. At around eight weeks of age, a puppy should have a full set of twenty-eight teeth (some breeds may have a slight variation), consisting of pre-molars (not full molars), incisors, and canines.

Beginning around three months of age, puppies start to lose their first set of teeth. The first ones noticed are usually the pointier canines, when an owner notices blood on chew toys. Many times an owner won%26#039;t even realize his puppy has started to shed teeth.

Adult teeth start to erupt within a few days of losing a tooth, and you%26#039;ll notice your puppy has started a reign of terror, mouthing everything, chewing like there%26#039;s no tomorrow.

An adult set has forty-two teeth: twenty-two on the lower jaw (mandible) and twenty on the upper jaw (maxilla). Twelve incisors, four canines, sixteen pre-molars, and four molars on the upper jaw, and six more on the lower jaw.

If you notice your puppy hasn%26#039;t started losing its baby teeth by 6 months I would bring it up to your vet (if they don%26#039;t notice it first).
Reply:15, 16 + weeks, depending on the breed etc.

Why is it that even though most people have all their adult teeth in at age 12, most wait until they are older

to get braces?

Why is it that even though most people have all their adult teeth in at age 12, most wait until they are older
Your premanent teeth are not all in by age 12. The 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) alone dont come into until you are at least 18 years old. As a person ages, their teeth can shift and that shift is usually toward the midline of the oral cavity. The older you get, the worst this gets. Have you ever seen a older person with crooked teeth? When they were younger they probably had the most picture perfect smile. What I%26#039;m saying is over the years their smile/occulsion may have changed and now they want to do something about it.
Reply:sometimes people are born into families that are clueless about braces. they either think it%26#039;s god%26#039;s will for their kid to have crooked teeth or think they can%26#039;t afford it, etc. often people have to discover for themselves as adults the benefits of orthodontia. many don%26#039;t do it until they%26#039;re well into their 40%26#039;s or 50%26#039;s. what a waste of time, I say.
Reply:Most people can%26#039;t afford braces. Some people like their teeth the way they are. I know a few people who don%26#039;t want to get rid of their gaps. I got braces at ag 12.
Reply:I am 13 years old and I have to lose one more baby tooth, but I have braces.

When you get them on early and you have baby teeth and then you get the braces off, they might have to be put on again.

Parents might like to just have their child not go through it twice and save money.

When do chihuahua puppies start to lose baby teeth? How long does it take for them to get all adult teeth?

they start losing them whenever they are 6 months old or so and should start growing them at about 9 months or so.

When do chihuahua puppies start to lose baby teeth? How long does it take for them to get all adult teeth?
Puppies gradually lose their teeth, and grow new ones, you can especially tell, because when they bite on their toys, they will likely bleed a little bit. When your puppies teeth grow in all the way, you can tell, because they will be bigger and sharper, teething starts at about six months, and it doesn%26#039;t last too long. When all of their teeth grow in, make sure to brush them atleast once a month. =] Make sure you don%26#039;t use their toothbrush, though!
Reply:my bichon is almost 5 months and started losing her teeth and within days new ones are growing in as we speak. Reply:Puppies have all their baby teeth by 7 or 8 weeks old, they start to lose them around 3 - 4 months and should have all their adult teeth in place by 6 - 7 months.

How long does it take for puppys to get their adult teeth?

Like humans, dogs have two sets of teeth in their lives. The 28 baby teeth erupt through the gums between the third and sixth weeks of age. Puppies do not have to grind much food, so they do not have molars. Puppy teeth begin to shed and be replaced by permanent adult teeth at about four months of age. Although there is some variation in breeds, most adult dogs have 42 teeth, with the molars coming last, at about six or seven months.

My dentist said it is good for kids to have gaps in their baby teeth, it means they will have adequate spacing for their adult teeth, since they are much bigger than baby teeth.

My kids are just starting to get their adult teeth (they are 6 and 8) and they so far do not have any gaps and they both had gaps with their baby teeth.

Yes, it is possible, especially if your teeth are not wired together tightly. Provided you take good care of them, they will likely re-solidify when the wires are removed.

At what age does a dog start getting its adult teeth?

Hi klarko!

Puppies start getting their adult teeth between 4 and 10 months of age. A growing puppy is going to put anything and everything in their mouth. It must be taught bite inhibition. As the puppy grows, the puppy%26#039;s jaws become stronger and adult teeth replace its puppy teeth. The mouthing and nipping it did as a puppy now can have serious consequences. Puppies that are left to their own devices can destroy a home quickly. Just as training is required to housebreak your little fur ball, training is also necessary to teach them appropriate chewing behaviors. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/You_Sho...

You can also ask your vet for oral cleansing gel to apply topically for control of bacteria and aid in healing injured or sore gums while puppies are teething.

Bitter-tasting liquids are very helpful to apply to your furniture and handy to use on a bandage after a veterinary procedure to keep dogs and puppies from chewing the bandage.

When the permanent teeth begin to erupt, provide your toy puppy with an appropriate chew toy, something that is soft and that is not going to be swallowed and cause intestinal blockages. Choose an assortment of toys of all textures.

I Have Two Spaces from where i didnt ahve adult Teeth what are the options?

if you have 2 spaces from which you are missing the adult teeth then you should ask you dentist... because he can put an implant which is about 1,ooo/tooth. if you wait too long your teeth might shift and angulate. so you might need to see an orthodontics to realign the teeths and then have your dentist put a screw or a post with a crown.... you can also have your dentist take your impressions to make a retainer and the retainer will have a prosthetic tooth on it.... until your financial ready.

Do all people have the same number of original adult teeth? If yes-How many. If No-what is the average?

There are 32 teeth in the adult dentition.. there are 4 of each: Central Incisor, Lateral Incisor, Cuspid (Canine), 1st Bicuspid (1st Premolar), 2nd Bicuspid (2nd Premolar), 1st Molar, 2nd Molar, 3rd Molar (Wisdom Tooth). Some people have less, some people have more and there are varying reasons. For instance, not everyone has all 4 of their wisdom teeth... it is thought that we are evolving to the point of no longer needing wisdom teeth as our mouths are generally not large enough to accomodate them anymore. So it%26#039;s thought that evolution has to do with not everyone devloping all 4 wisdom teeth rather than genetics being the reason. There could also be other teeth other than the wisdom teeth that never develop for whatever reason. There%26#039;s also the possibility of a person having an extra tooth or teeth known as a supernumerary tooth. And there%26#039;s also the possibility that some adults still maintain some of their deciduous (baby) teeth.

And just for the record.. in all my years in dentistry, I have never once heard of a person having 2 complete sets of adult teeth erupt after exfoliating (losing) their baby teeth.

Do all people have the same number of original adult teeth? If yes-How many. If No-what is the average?
Yes, normally. There are always exceptions to the rule, a friend of mine had two sets of adult teeth. baby teeth came out, adults grew in, adults came out... dentist freaked, adults number 2 came in.

I think people have 30ish teeth.
Reply:I think the normal is 32 including the wisdom teeth. I had 4 baby teet that didn%26#039;t have permanent teeth behind them. Evidently, that%26#039;s not all that uncommon.
Reply:People have 32 teeth, including the wisdom teeth. But, most people have to have those removed since the jaw is too small to accomodate them. Also, some people lack wisdom teeth, or have only two instead of four. This appears to be genetic. In my family, it%26#039;s typical to have two wisdom teeth, lower only. I had to have mine removed when they grew in impacted, and I was really glad I only had two to deal with. So, with those removed, I have 28 teeth, and would have had a maximum of 30. I%26#039;ve also met people who didn%26#039;t have wisdom teeth at all, and only grew 28 teeth. I%26#039;m sure there are other variations on teeth, like the rare case one answerer mentioned about a friend who grew a full new set. I%26#039;ve heard of this happening, but never met someone with teeth like that. Apparently it%26#039;s pretty rare. Maybe someday we%26#039;ll be able to figure out how to turn this tooth regeneration feature on using medical technology and be able to grow a replacement set in older people instead of fitting them with dentures.

But, from what I know, the most common number of total adult teeth is 32, some people only have 30, and some lucky ones only have 28. Most of us end up with 28 teeth anyway since wisdom teeth rarely have enough room to grow in properly.
Reply:32 unless you are missing some which does happen. as the person who answered earlier said.... I have never heard of anyone having two complete sets of permanent teeth. Im not sure what was going on with those people.

My friend says he was born premature and his adult teeth never formed. has anyone ever heard of that?

I doubt it has anything or very little to do with being born premature. The very first sign of teeth formation are at 6 weeks in utero. It is just a dental anomaly. If he is looking for options, he could get crowns on those baby teeth depending how the roots are and implants (since he should have only 20 teeth if he still has his baby teeth) for the first and second molars.

My friend says he was born premature and his adult teeth never formed. has anyone ever heard of that?
Yes I%26#039;ve heard of it. My husbands cousin has that problem he had to get false teeth as soon as all his baby teeth fell out. Its unusual but true.
Reply:im 27 and i still have a baby tooth... i also, didnt have two of my adult teeth. when my baby teeth fell out had to get bridges
Reply:I have never heard of that. If it has happened to people, i seriously doubt that it has anything to do with being premature as everyone I know who was born prem have matured in to fully functioning adults with the full amount of teeth and normal height. It is more likely to be a genetic disorder.

If you're only born with one set of teeth, where do your adult teeth come from?

from what the dentist told me about my daughter when she had her baby teeth, was that the adult teeth was stuck in the gum, and waiting to come out, once the little ones (babys) are gone.

he did an xray, and I actually saw the big teeth on the xrays, in the gum and they werent even out yet...

Neat!

If you%26#039;re only born with one set of teeth, where do your adult teeth come from?
The adult teeths are present above the upper teeths%26amp;below the lower teeths

These grow %26amp; push the teeths (one set of teeths) .Thus emerging out.
Reply:The permanent tooth begins to grow under the baby tooth., sitting in between the roots of the tooth it will replace.

As basics of adult teeth form in the gums, specialized cells called odontoblasts resorb the roots of the baby teeth and use them to help form the permanent teeth.. The crown of the permanent tooth is the first part of the tooth to develop.

By the time the adult teeth start to push through the gums, the rootless baby teeth are loose and ready to come out. The baby teeth help the permanent adult teeth to push through into their normal positions.

The root of the permanent tooth then continues to form.
Reply:The truth is, you%26#039;re born with 2 sets of teeth.
Reply:They grow from tooth %26quot; Buds %26quot; in the gums. Each tooth is comprised of 3-5 buds that fuse together as the tooth grows. This is why childrens teeth have bumpy edges. Each bump is the peak of 1 bud.....these wear smooth over time.

I have small poodles and some are losing adult teeth young. Is this normal and if not what can I do for them?

It%26#039;s not uncommon in the small breeds for dogs to lose front teeth. It has to do with inadequate bone in the jaw. Make sure the teeth are clean, the gums are tight and there is not tarter or rot. If it%26#039;s a bone issue, there%26#039;s not a lot you can do about it, but as long as the molars are in good shape, don%26#039;t fret too much about missing front teeth.

I have small poodles and some are losing adult teeth young. Is this normal and if not what can I do for them?
depends on it%26#039;s age take it to the vet for a orthodontic check up
Reply:A dog%26#039;s teeth need attention just like yours do. They need to be cleaned periodicaly (they can%26#039;t use a toothbrush - remember?) Bad teeth lead to bad dog breath and loss of teeth.

See your vet.

Do all animals grow a set of milk teeth, lose them, and grow adult teeth?

Or is it just humans?

Do all animals grow a set of milk teeth, lose them, and grow adult teeth?
Not nearly all animals do this, but all mammals do have two sets of teeth. The first set has no molars, and they are called milk or deciduous teeth.

Lots of animals don%26#039;t have teeth at all of course...

Generally, reptiles and fish lose their teeth all the time, replacing them as they are lost..Sometimes there is a pattern to this -- for example, I have a jaw I took from a dead pike I found (big predatory fish) which has one socket in the jaw with a good tooth, a small new one growing in the next socket, and the next socket with the tooth broken or missing. This continues along the jaw, so there is a good tooth in every third socket. The fish was about a metre long, and the teeth are about 3 cm long, with sharp edges down each side. You%26#039;d not want to be bitten by it...

Some mammals have two sets, but don%26#039;t use the whole set at one time. Elephants do this -- they have lots of molars, but only use two or so in each jaw at a time. As each tooth wears out the next moves up -- but when they%26#039;ve used the last one they have to stick to soft food such as fruit.

Occasionally a similar thing happens in humans. If the mouth is crowded, sometimes one tooth gets buried beneath another and never develops fully. If the upper tooth is lost in later life, the buried one sometimes %26quot;wakes up%26quot; and grows, giving an adult (or even elderly) person a nice new tooth.
Reply:dogs grow milk teeth too.
Reply:Most mammals have milk teeth
Reply:only mammals..(which includes human beings)
Reply:only mammals ;)
Reply:most animals have a first set then permanent one.I wouldn%26#039;t say only mammals coz crocs have a similar characteristic

Why do dentist have to take out an adult teeth when you have braces?

Please tell me becaus I might have to take out SOME teeths and I%26#039;m scared

Why do dentist have to take out an adult teeth when you have braces?
They often have to remove the wisdom teeth because if they%26#039;re allowed to grow in they will crowd the mouth and push the other teeth out of alignment.
Reply:It%26#039;s to make room for when the teeth start moving in their correct places.
Reply:it gives the teeth room

they are crowded and they take them out so they arnt no more and can grow straight
Reply:To make more room for your teeth to move and your wisdom teeth to move in. I got some pulled too. It%26#039;s not that bad, afterwards you just have bed rest for a day or two, and you get to make everyone be your servant. XD
Reply:Because of overcrowding. I had to have one tooth on the bottom pulled
Reply:You must have too many teeth in your mouth.
Reply:Most likely it%26#039;s to save you pain and money. But don%26#039;t worry, they put you on pain killers, and it really doesn%26#039;t hurt. I%26#039;ve had my wisdom teeth removed and that wasn%26#039;t too bad. ;) Plus you can trick your parents into getting you milkshakes and stuff, in the end it%26#039;s all good.
Reply:they remove some teeth to create space in the mouth to straighten the teeth. since the teeth are enbedded to your facial bones they must be removed to create space. in a sense it makes your mouth smaller but with straight teeth.
Reply:To make room. Sometimes people have crooked teeth because their mouths are too small for a full set of adult teeth. So they pull a couple, and fill in the gaps with the rest to make a perfect smile.
Reply:too make room in your mouth so the teeth left can be adjusted to be straight!!!
Reply:it%26#039;s because they need room to fit the brace, and also to stop overcrowding. not long ago, i was going to have quite a few teeth out, but i chickened out, please dont do that, because then you cant have the brace, which means no straight teeth. don%26#039;t be frightened, many people have to have teeth taken out
Reply:I had 4 pulled for braces. It was sore for the first few days but healed fully in a few months. The spaces allow room and movement of the teeth. The braces move the teeth slowly so my gaps closed up in about a year. But gone already when the braces came off. Good luck!

Is it only humans that get two sets of teeth? baby and adult teeth?

no

dodgs and cats get two sets

the first set are called milk teeth

Is it only humans that get two sets of teeth? baby and adult teeth?
monkeys are the same i think
Reply:no, although chinchillas look as if they have only front teeth they alsohave another set, and they also have kind of index fingers like humans.
Reply:unforunately, we r the only ones that have those, no other mammal, the only time they loose their teeth is when they are old!
Reply:My puppies lost their baby teeth and then adult ones came in.

I suppose all carnivore mammals do also. Dunno about reptiles.
Reply:Cats and dogs have baby teeth as well. The usually fall out around 5-6 months and then thereadult ones come through.

At approximately what age do kittens get their adult teeth?

Also, if anyone knows other any other good ways to tell the age of a kitten, I would love to hear them. I%26#039;m trying to roughly determine the age of my kitten; she is a stray that I rescued, and I assume she is quite young but I am not sure.

At approximately what age do kittens get their adult teeth?
Kittens start losing their baby teeth around 4 - 6 months. Most of the time we never realize it and sometimes you will find a tooth on the floor or you will see two teeth in the same spot. First time it happens it can freak you out.....(smile) They do it very easily and will even paw their face sometimes if one is stuck, but they come out ok.

The best thing to do is take her in for a %26quot;new baby%26quot; check up especially since she is a stray. Then all your questions will be answered.

Good luck and enjoy
Reply:They have those teeth all their life. They grow as the kitten grows, they aren%26#039;t like us. Their teeth don%26#039;t fall out, if they do they don%26#039;t grow back.
Reply:Actually, kittens teeth do fall out... and they grow new ones. Im just not sure at what age.
Reply:Your kittens baby teeth will be completly replaced by adult teeth by 5 or 6 months old(most baby teeth are swallowed).
Reply:i would say somewhere around 6-12 months...the vet can help you to determine the age of your kitten
Reply:Between 3.5 to 6 months of age as a rule and they lose different teeth at different times.

Normally the first teeth to go are the central incisors (middle teeth in the front of the mouth) at about 3.5 to 4 months of age. Next are the premolars and molars running on sides then the four canine teeth (they%26#039;re the sharp looking ones between the front teeth and premolars) about 5 to 6 months of age.

For the person who said cat%26#039;s teeth grow as they mature, they don%26#039;t. Cats do have deciduous teeth, they lose them as permanent teeth grow to replace them.

You usually don%26#039;t notice when they lose their teeth, you just suddenly see the new bigger ones. They swallow them it seems.

Hope that helps.
Reply:A cat has 26 baby teeth which they get at 4 weeks of age and 30 permanent teeth which start coming in at 11 weeks. At 30 weeks, (little over 6mo.) cat should have all adult teeth.

I partially knocked out one of my adult teeth from the bottom front. What should I do?

You guys who tried to answer....you didn%26#039;t even read! it%26#039;s still in his mouth! sheesh.

OK, so MY impression is that the tooth is loose but still there. Don%26#039;t touch it! don%26#039;t eat anything other than yogurt and the like.

Go to the dnetist first thing tomorrow morning and they will bond a splint onto the teeth; just a wire and some bonded material. then just hang on to that for a month or two and then the doc will remove it and you should be ok. it MAY require a root canal; depends on how far it%26#039;s been pushed out of place.

good luck

Reply:Go to the denist they will give you a fake tooth for the part you knocked out my brother had part of one then a whole one knocked out once he was playing football and they went into his best friends head lol!

carry it to the dentist in milk now.
Reply:Pull out the yellow pages and look up an ER Dentist...Soak the tooth in milk or keep in the pocket of your cheek. You will have to get it put back in right away if you want to save it.

My son is 6 years old .still has baby teeth, adult teeth growing in behind. is this bad.?

does not hurt

My son is 6 years old .still has baby teeth, adult teeth growing in behind. is this bad.?
It is very common (and normal) for the four lower incisors (front ones) to come in behind the baby teeth. I worked in paediatric dental offices for over 30 years and we must get 3 phone calls each week from parents concerned about this. Are the baby teeth loose at all? It%26#039;s OK to wiggle the baby teeth and help them along. Once the baby teeth fall out, the tongue and swallowing will help push the permanent teeth forward into the arch form.

Many general dentists will take out these baby teeth because the parents are worried about the double row. Often this is the first visit for some children and it is a very traumatic one and causes them to fear going to the dentist.

One other thing though, ONLY in the lower front is it normal for the teeth to erupt behind. Anywhere else, if the permanent tooth hasn%26#039;t come out, then the baby tooth may need some help.
Reply:this will make his teeth crooked.this is why my grandma my would yank my baby teeth out.
Reply:No this is not bad and it is extremely common. The worst news I have for you is that your child will probably have difficulty shedding some of his baby teeth. This is because it is the pressure of an adult tooth erupting underneath a baby tooth that pushes the baby tooth out. When it is time (and your dentist will determine that), the baby teeth that are not shed naturally will have to be removed. After that, pressure from your son%26#039;s tongue will likely be sufficient to push the adult teeth into alignment. If not, there is always braces.

The best thing you can do for your child is to NOT let on that anything is going on. Hide your anxiety. Kids pick up on that very easily.

Book a consultation with your dentist so she can take some orthodontic measurements and to document a game plan.

As for you, relax. A competent, compassionate dentist can easily and comfortably manage your child.

My 5 month old puppy has both baby teeth and adult teeth in the top front of her mouth. Is this Normal?

Not normal, but it does happen ,especially in toy breeds. If the baby teeth don%26#039;t fall out on their own soon, you need to have them pulled as they will cause food to become stuck in the teeth ,causing bad breath and tooth and gum disease when the dog is older.Like another person suggested, ,just have it done when you have the pup spayed or neutered(it%26#039;s time to do that now).

My 5 month old puppy has both baby teeth and adult teeth in the top front of her mouth. Is this Normal?
this is normall for some breeds of puppies. the best thing for the puppy is to give it something hard to chew on this will loosen the baby teeth and will help them to fall out.
Reply:Cecil is right. Some breeds are just that way and usually chewing will help the puppy lose the baby teeth. If you ever get a chance, get a look at a human child who has loose baby teeth. With permission of mom of course. You will notice that sometimes you can see the top of the adult tooth while the baby tooth has not yet fallen out.

You have nothing to worry about although do not try to remove the tooth from your puppy yourself. If it seems to be problematic for your puppy to eat, take him to your vet and have the baby tooth removed.
Reply:Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That%26#039;s normal!
Reply:Nope, puppies usually lose their baby(deciduous) teeth between 4-6 months old. If they do not fall out soon they need to be removed by a vet. This is usually a good thing to do when they are under anesthesia being spayed or neutered
Reply:I assume it is normal. My puppy is a 4 month old west highland terrier and just in a couple of weeks he lost two baby teeth on top and has three new teeth growing on the bottom. Get your puppy some rubber like toys. They have a selected variety at Petco.
Reply:Have the vet check her. She may need to have the baby teeth pulled. Small breed dogs often retain some baby teeth.
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen it frequently in small breeds (I have Chihuahuas). In all but one dog, they eventually fell out on their own. With the last puppy I had, it took many months for her to lose the baby fangs. I often cleaned out between the baby fang and the adult tooth so that it wouldn%26#039;t rot the adult tooth and eventually it came out (I think around 8-9 months or so). However, if you are getting the dog spayed or neutered soon (assuming that you haven%26#039;t already done it), they can easily take the baby teeth out at that time and you don%26#039;t have to have them put under just for teeth (cheaper for you and easier on the dog).

When You go to the dentist to get teeth pulled, (ADULT TEETH) what is the procedure? and is there any pain?

Okay, I have braces, and I have to get 2 molars pulled tomorrow, how do they do it, does it hurt?

When You go to the dentist to get teeth pulled, (ADULT TEETH) what is the procedure? and is there any pain?
One suggestion: Don%26#039;t watch Marathon Man tonight!

The pain varies a lot from person to person.

You%26#039;ll get an injection of novocaine at the least, so the worst thing about actually getting the teeth pulled is having a dentist stick a pair of pliers in your mouth and listening to the sound of your teeth being yanked out of their sockets. He shouldn%26#039;t by prying on your other teeth for leverage, either! (I heard of one dentist doing this!). It%26#039;s also poor technique for him to plant his foot on the arm of the chair (some teeth wind up being very hard to get out).

It%26#039;s the after effects that vary a lot. Some people have some swelling of their jaw and some people have quite a bit of soreness. Some people%26#039;s teeth come out pretty easily and they have almost no pain or swelling at all.
Reply:I would imagine that you get the gas and they numb the area of your mouth and then they yank %26#039;em out. And does it hurt? Well I bet it don%26#039;t feel like hugs and kisses...
Reply:They tell me they inject the gums with a drug to deaden the sensation and the extractions don%26#039;t really hurt that bad at all.
Reply:The shot stings a bit.

After you are numb, they use a plier and just yank the tooth out. No pain. You may hear tearing of tissue and bone when they do this, as the bones conduct sounds to your ear!

And then you are done.

I would ask for a painkiller (or keep some Motrin / Ibuprofen in my pocket) and take one immediately after the extraction, so it takes effect before the Novocaine wears off.
Reply:Nope, well... just a bit, they give you a shot in your gum (small needle) to make it numb, feels like a pin prick. After that they wait a few minutes, for the stuff to make effect, and they just pull out the teeth, but you don%26#039;t feel a thing. It%26#039;s LATER when the stuff wears off, that it MIGHT hurt a bit, but not too much. You MAY have to take a pill, maybe not... and that%26#039;s about it. Don%26#039;t worry!! No big deal.
Reply:You will have an injection to freeze the site where the teeth are to be pulled from. Then you will feel that area very numb, then the dentist will test the gum to see if its frozen, then he will extract your teeth ,and you wont feel anything ,please believe me as i hate going to the dentist, and when i come out i think ,was that worth getting into a state about. Good Luck.
Reply:NOOOO they do not hurt, as my mom told me, she says that all they did was gave her a shot (it doesn%26#039;t hurt) and pulled it and it was over in 10 mins
Reply:i dont no about adult teeth being pulled out, but i think its the same procedure for regular baby teeth. i went through the same when i was little. i was nervous, cuz i hated needles-but u no wat, it doesnt hurt when ur dentist puts in the needle. ive done it for 4-6 baby teeth. he/she numbs it with the needle in the gum and if u could still feel them poking u, its not numb yet. when it is, then they get something (sry i dont no the name) and pull it out geeently. then u c the blood, they may make u rinse ur mouth and then u mite bite on gloss (its something to stop the blood)
Reply:Of course it hurts! I Have had two pulled in a dentist%26#039;s office and it hurt like hell, cause f the pulling. I had 23 removed surgically and it hurt alot less.
